Nottingham Waterfront Festival 2017

The Waterfront Festival at The Canalhouse returns this weekend courtesy of I’m Not From London and Audacious Face Music, with live music all day and dressing up, all in aid of local charities. Hannah Larham explains more

When is it?
 Saturday, July 8 from 12.30pm to 1am.

Where is it? The Canalhouse, Canal Street

Who is playing? 30+ luminaries from Nottingham and beyond, including Hallouminati, Unknown Era, The Most Ugly Child, Chambers, Doggen All Stars Band, Avalanche Party, Lucille, 94 Gunships and a whole bunch more.

What’s this about dressing up? This year’s (vaguely nautical) theme is B movie monsters and mythical creatures of the sea, so expect krakens, sharks, piranhas and all manner of horrors from the briny depths. There’s also a prize for the best costume so get creative.

Anything else happening? There are DJs, stalls from local traders and a pretty epic raffle including prizes from Brewdog, Browns, Dinosaurs of China and loads of other swag.

It’s all for charity, right? Yep and two of them will benefit from this year’s Waterfront Festival: The Wolfson Cystic Fibrosis Centre and the Roy Stone Foundation. The Wolfson Cystic Fibrosis Centre opened in April to help transform the care of its young patients by creating a ‘home in hospital’. The Roy Stone Foundation aim to raise awareness and help reduce the stigma that is all too often attached to individuals experiencing mental health related conditions.

How much are tickets? £7 from The Canalhouse, Jam Café or The Angel Microbrewery. They are £7.70 from

Can I pay on the day? If there are any left (it often sells out) they will be available at the door for £10.
